Tunis, Thursday 7 November 2019.
As it does every year, the Sheraton Tunis set out to honour its guests with an evening worth remembering. This time the party fell during Marriott International’s Global Customer Appreciation Week (GCAW), and the hotel took the opportunity to thank the members of its Marriott Bonvoy™ Events loyalty programme as well.
What is Global Customer Appreciation Week (GCAW)?
In 1993, the Residence Inn brand began setting aside a full week — christened True North Week — to recognise its most loyal guests in a way all its own. Those major clients were named True North for the mark they left on the hotels’ success.
True North Week, now known as Global Customer Appreciation Week, has become a cultural cornerstone for Marriott’s global sales team and for the group’s hotels of every brand around the world. Over those days, executives at every level of leadership work alongside sales teams across all sales channels to thank clients for their business. The week includes a leadership site-visit day for clients who organise events, community service events, and a wealth of lively sales activities.
The Sheraton Tunis and the Marriott Bonvoy™ Events programme
With a whole week devoted to clients, the Sheraton Tunis also made a point of thanking its Marriott Bonvoy™ Events members. As part of Marriott International, a chain of international standing, the hotel offers event organisers — as do all 30 brands in the group — a loyalty programme called Marriott Bonvoy™ Events, which rewards planners personally for the professional and social events they hold in participating properties. Eligible clients can choose to earn points or miles, and to receive Elite night credits.
A change of format: from gala dinner to cocktail supper
That year, the Sheraton Tunis shifted things a little, trading the rather classic gala dinner it usually hosts for a cocktail supper with a full programme of entertainment to please every guest. A way of refreshing a Tunisois tradition of hospitality in which the art of receiving holds a central place, alongside the gourmet evenings that set the rhythm of the capital’s hotels.
