Beauty Routines for Hot Weather

Our summers are hot, and temperatures rarely drop below 30°C: looking fresh all day is a challenge. But a few beauty routines can help you save face — mattifying wipes, lighter make-up, continuous hydration and dry shampoo for the hair, among others.

Mattifying Wipes

Available mainly in large perfumeries, they're something we forget to think about and buy. Yet they work real miracles. Easy to carry, they remove the excess sebum secreted by the skin on very hot days. That way, the skin won't shine, and they instantly provide a feeling of freshness. To use one, simply wipe it over the face, dabbing the T-zone.

Ditch the Foundation

Intense heat is often accompanied by sweating. The skin of the face starts to shine, especially when the pores are clogged by heavy make-up. Favour a combination of CC cream + BB cream + bronzing powder. Those with a flawless complexion can make do with a CC cream and a bronzing powder. This way, the complexion is even, barely tinted and protected from UV rays. The bronzing powder, for its part, helps to sculpt the oval of the face and perfect that healthy glow.

Light Make-Up

To stay fresh all day, simply keep your make-up light. When it's scorching hot in summer, there's no point being elaborate. All you need is a black mascara and a touch of colour on your lips. In summer, matte is the trend.

Plenty of Water

Water is your best ally in summer. You need to drink plenty to ensure optimal hydration of your body and, in turn, your face. During intense heat, remember to arm yourself with a thermal water mist. Besides being refreshing, it is very handy for spraying your face at any time, thereby preventing the skin from drying out.

A Quick Spritz of Dry Shampoo

Just like the rest of our body, hair suffers from the heat in summer. So you can give it a little pick-me-up by keeping a mini dry shampoo on hand, to be quickly sprayed onto the hair to reduce excess sebum on the scalp and restore volume to your hairstyle.

Frequently asked questions

How do you keep a fresh, shine-free complexion when it's very hot?
Simply wipe a mattifying wipe over the face, dabbing the T-zone: it removes the excess sebum secreted by the skin and instantly provides a feeling of freshness.
Should you wear foundation in hot weather?
It's better to avoid it: intense heat makes you sweat and the pores clog under heavy make-up. Favour a combination of CC cream + BB cream + bronzing powder (or CC cream and bronzing powder for an already even complexion): the complexion stays even, light and protected from UV rays.
What make-up should you favour in summer?
Light make-up: a black mascara and a touch of colour on the lips are enough, without aiming for anything elaborate — matte is the trend.
How do you stay well hydrated during intense heat?
By drinking plenty of water to hydrate the body and face, and by keeping a thermal water mist on hand to spray on the face at any time to prevent the skin from drying out.
How do you refresh your hairstyle without washing your hair?
With a mini dry shampoo to spray onto the hair: it reduces excess sebum on the scalp and restores volume to the hairstyle.
