The Traditional Bridal Treatment You Simply Can't Skip

This traditional bridal treatment draws its inspiration from India. It belongs to the beauty rituals no bride goes without. It nourishes the skin, giving it not only a burst of radiance but also a softness that invites the touch. A sensual treatment, and a barely veiled invitation...

How do you prepare the traditional bridal treatment?

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup of honey
  • ¼ sweet almond oil, or any other plant oil of your choosing. We have a soft spot for monoï oil — we'll admit it — because of the scent of tiaré flowers.
  • ½ cup rose water
  • 1 cup Ayurvedic facial treatment.

Preparation

  • Place the honey, the sweet almond oil and half the rose water in a bowl and mix with a fork.
  • Add ¼ of the Ayurvedic facial treatment and stir.
  • Fold in the rest little by little, alternating rose water and Ayurvedic facial treatment. The mixture should end up with the consistency of a spread. Add enough rose water to reach the texture you want.

Keeping it

This cream is meant to be used straight away. It does not keep well beyond 2 days in the fridge, in an airtight container.

How do you use the traditional bridal treatment?

For the best results, take a shower or stay in the bath to soften your skin and lift away the first layer of toxins. Your pores will open, allowing the treatment to sink in more deeply.
Apply the main treatment to clean, damp skin using upward strokes. Start with your body and finish with your face. Once you are covered from head to toe, work in small circular motions to exfoliate, beginning with the legs and arms, then moving on to the torso.

Then move to your face, avoiding the eye area. Massage your face with light pressure. Wrap yourself in cling film or in a towel. Leave the treatment on for 15 minutes on the face and 30 minutes on the body. Rinse off with warm water and avoid using soap to wash. Then spritz on rose water to tone and tighten the opened pores. You can follow with a facial moisturiser, if you feel like it.
