Masaru Emoto is a doctor of alternative medicine in Japan. With his team, he developed a method for observing frozen water crystals. He spent 20 years studying "the richness with which water can express itself". To obtain these crystals, he placed water samples in Petri dishes at -20° for three hours.
Droplets of ice then form on the surface. Exposed to a particular projection of light and photographed at very high speed, the water crystals reveal themselves.
Doctor Emoto's experiment
Doctor Emoto's team very quickly noticed that the crystals differed according to where the water came from. The purer the water, the more beautiful and harmonious the crystals that form. Conversely, stagnant or waste water forms no crystals, or those that do appear are incomplete and ungainly.
One of the team members one day had the idea of playing music and observing the formation of the crystals. That simple suggestion had a considerable impact on how the experiment developed. What was about to be discovered was water's great sensitivity to the energy given off by thought, by speech, by music. According to Doctor Emoto's team, the crystals take on different appearances depending on the vibration to which the water is subjected.
For one and the same water, the crystals that form when it is subjected to positive vibrations (prayers, words of love, gentle music) do not have the same signature as those that form after exposure to negative vibrations (messages of hatred, for instance). On this subject, Masaru Emoto would say:
"These crystals are full of lessons to be drawn about the way we should – and must – live".

What this experiment teaches us about ourselves
A human being begins life at the foetal stage and is made up of 99% water. At birth, they are made up of 90% water. In adulthood, the body contains 70%. When a person becomes very old, the body grows denser and its water content is reduced to 50%. Which means that our body is an extraordinary vessel for emotions. We are literally bathing in the vibrations our thoughts give off. That is one way of understanding the success of positive thinking.
| Stage of life | Water content of the body |
|---|---|
| Foetus | 99% |
| Birth | 90% |
| Adulthood | 70% |
| Old age | 50% |
This is not about wrapping yourself in naivety and wide-eyed innocence. It is about thinking with love, compassion, forgiveness. So just imagine what your life would look like if you stopped complaining about all sorts of ills, if you stopped finding yourself plain, ugly or overweight, if you stopped exposing yourself to hours of degrading television programming, if you stopped playing hypnotic, violent video games, if you stopped listening to music with demeaning lyrics… Just imagine what your life would look like if you reversed the rhythm.
What is the point of this work?
Doctor Emoto's work allows us to understand how we hold on to emotions, and how we react to them, since water is the major component of our body and since water itself changes structure according to the vibration to which it is subjected. He puts it this way:
The findings of Doctor Emoto's research are disputed by the scientific community, which criticises the lack of rigour in the protocol used. Our editorial team does not have the necessary expertise to confirm or refute what Masaru Emoto says.
We simply wanted to bring this subject to your attention, and then we are offering you something that has become rare these days. We are offering you the possibility of choosing to believe it or to remain sceptical. The choice is yours. It belongs to you.
Namaste.
